Does The Full Moon Pull Your Chain?

How often do we really take a look at the night sky? Do you watch the moon at night or is that just for people who are loony? Do we pay attention to the moons size, shape and color or do we forget about it and take it for granted? This moon seems to have an affect on me that is far beyond anything I understand, I know that. I just wonder how many of you pay attention to the moon? The moon is always up there even when we can not see it.

Poetry has been written about it. Songs have been sung about it. Photos are taken of it. Dogs howl at it. Gardeners plant by it. Children are in awe of it. Sailors delight in it. Cultures give names to it. Lovers swoon by it and animals breed by it. The moon seems to hold a power over us that centuries of people have not been able to concur. What is up with that moon anyway?

I have been gardening by the moon's phases for about thirty years. I do know that you can plant a seed at the worst suggested moon phase for planting and plant one during the perfect suggested time and the later seed will almost always produce the better plant. I have tried this experiment with several different kinds of seeds and done it many times over the years. Give it a try just for fun.

Look in a Farmer's Almanac for the best time to plant and the worst time. Plant some seeds from the same package on the days suggested. Wait and see for yourself. It always amazes me. What do the seeds know that we humans do not? I am sure it is a God thing.

It seems that there has been stories and ideas about the moon from the beginning of man. My imagination leads me to conjure up visions of moody women, driving their men crazy for one reason or another. Way back, before the birth of braziers. Some man, somewhere, always did things a certain way and it pleased his female companion. Then out of the black, a big full moon night and he can not make head nor tails of what she is ranting and raving about. She is crying for no reason, she wants McDonalds for dinner and it hasn't even been invented yet. It was enough to drive a man to murder. He can't stand to listen to her whining so he clubs her in the head!

Blame It On The Moon

Names like lunatic, places like the loony bin, abnormal behavior called lunacy, all get their name base from our very own moon. History from ancient civilizations all include folklore and concern for the affects of the moon on nature and man. Special names were given to each moon for each month. Some names from very different cultures are the same. Leads me to wonder if there is anything to the claims that are made about this fickle lady, in the night sky.

Most people have heard of the zodiac sun signs. Fewer people are aware that we also have a moon sign that is noted by the exact time, place and date that we were born. This is suggested to have more influence on our personality than our own sun sign does. It takes a little information to find out what a person's moon sign is but you can figure it out using this information. I do not claim to believe but, it might be fun to take a look. I can not help but wonder if there is any truth to what the moon might be doing to us. It is a part of the world created by God and there could be something to it.
