Summer offers up some of the best foods for a healthy diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables are in abundance and the prices are usually at the low end with so much competition for the market. A great source of vitamins and minerals come in the form of Cherry Tomatoes. They are quick and easy to add to almost any menu served alone or made in to a salad. The health benefits of Cherry Tomatoes are extra ordinary. This makes the Cherry Tomato one of the top ten foods for healthy eating.
Much research is being done or has been done on the positive affects from eating tomatoes to help combat the risk of prostrate, lung and colon cancers. Findings have been very positive. The antioxidants in Cherry Tomatoes are a great boost to body health. Heart disease and cholesterol levels seem to also be in the midst of positive benefits from tomato consumption. It is no wonder when you take a look at all the vitamins and minerals found in this fruit.

The red color of tomatoes is produced by Lycopene which is one thing that adds to the benefits of eating Cherry Tomatoes. Studies have shown that Lycopene protects the heart, lowers blood pressure, protects bones and is beneficial for the body in general. The color alone will make the table setting more inviting.
Cherry Tomatoes Are Quick, Easy and Healthy
Knowing how healthy these colorful little tomatoes are is only part of the benefits reaped from serving them. They are so quick and easy. They can be served fresh as they come. Just rinse them off real good and they are great for snacking. Leave a bowl on the table or counter and they seem to disappear before you know it.
They can dress up an average pasta saladtoo. Slice them in half and fold them in to your favorite pasta dish for a refreshing change of pace and taste. This adds plenty of color and flavor to the table.
Serve as a salad marinated in balsamic vinegar, olive oil and basil for a special dish to accompany almost any main meal. Add a little onion, fresh green peppers or garlic to taste. Cherry Tomatoes are good with sliced cucumbers and Italian dressing as a marinade.
Be creative. They make a wonderful addition to tuna salad and knowing the healthy benefits derived from eating Cherry Tomatoes you are sure to feel great when including them in your diet.

I just picked almost a bushel of the little jewels. They're calling for a heavy frost tonight in my neck of the woods. I have some freezing and pickling to do. These cherry tomatoes are my favorite in pasta dishes too.

RNMSN...They are my favorite also, I always eat a handful or three while I am picking. Sometimes they burst in my fingertips as I gather them up. Those are my reward for growing them.

In fact one of my colleagues did a study on this at the University of Hawaii. Yes, the precursor for Vitamin A, in the process of being transformed to Vitamin A, present in live plants does inhibit tumor growth.
