UpDate From A New Tennis Shoe Review: Ben Panfil's Shoe Art
By C.S.Alexis
I Ordered These For My Niece
This is an update Hub on one I wrote a few months ago. You can view it by following this link to that article. I was compelled to write a little more after receiving my order. I wanted to get these photos out for all to see.
When I first saw a pair of these shoes Ben Panfil designed for a sport fan he knows, I must say I was impressed. The quality of his craftsmanship was very good and his ability to take the curves and seams on the shoes and incorporate them in to his design was executed perfect. It is much harder to work on a 3 dimensional surface than the regular flat surface most artists perform on. Ben has the ability to jump right in and do his thing. He does not make a preliminary drawing of his ideas, He just goes for it.
That has got to be the most amazing thing about his work. When I told him my idea for making the shoes I did not give him too much information. The theme, the shoe size and I asked him to use enough misc. color to create a more or less graying affect so that the shoes would look good with jeans. I have to say that I was thrilled with his finished product. In fact I was so thrilled that I felt it was only right to publish this hub to show everyone how good of a job Ben Panfil can do.
I have already put in an order for another pair. The next ones will be Pink Floyd, men's size. I have a young high school friend who is getting in to the older music as he learns to play guitar. His Father said he had recently taken a serious intrest in Pink Floyd.
As A reminder
If you would like to know more about this young artist, Ben Panfil you can go to his MySpace site. He is open to accepting emails. If you have an interest in ordering a pair of shoes for yourself or as a gift for someone else, give Ben a shout. One more thing I should note.
The style of canvas shoe he uses to decorate cost about $12. for Men's sizes. As with everything, the cost has gone up a little. The women's sizes are much more difficult to find. He had to special order the one's for me and the cost was a little over $26. with tax included. That will raise the price of the shoe somewhat. This is something you would have to deal directly with Ben about. I did not mind because I wanted to get the custom design and handcrafted finish. I absolutely feel they were worth every penny.

G-Ma, Nice to see those bright eyes reading here. I think that you and I have taken part in a lot of the same industrious activities over the years, though I have never done the Tennis Shoes. I have painted a few pairs for myself. Sometimes I get carried away with the paint brush.
Actually years ago now I painted shoes also...with that bubble like liquid paint...the kind that is risen...I did shoes for small children and even brides tennis shoes...they could wear when out of their wedding dress...I even sold some at the farmer's market...It was so fun
Nice job on your Hub my dear and thanks...it brought back good memories...G-Ma :o) Hugs & Peace
Hey thanks SweetiePie. He did a nice job don't you think?
What a fun and unique gift for a family or friend member.
