With that stated the question of where to begin might be coming to mind. I know it was in my head from the get go. What I did was start by considering the name I have on my Adrift Art Studio. I also thought about the name I have on my jewelry line as Handcrafted Jewelry USA. The two names really do not have anything in common. The thing I needed to do was tie the two together somehow. I felt it would be good to try to tie the two names together in the handmade jewelry display. Let's look a little closer.

This might sound like a backward approach to setting up a display. Prior to putting a jewelry display together a closer look needs to be taken to some other items as forms of advertising. The entire package is all a form of advertising in one way or another. When you feel like you are lost or stuck on a particular part of the entire display it is helpful to look around and see what others are doing.

I started with a business card and actually grew everything else in my handmade jewelry display from there. I am also open for change and modification as my business continues to grow. I seriously examined the names of the art studio and the line of jewelry and considered colors and possible impressions that I wanted to make use of to present my total package. Here is what I took into consideration. I suggest you get out a pencil and some paper and make a list similar to the following.

The list and notes you come up with will at first be somewhat generic and might include other things I am not showing here. Invest time to research what you are planning to do and where you can purchase the things needed to make your display come together.

Create a color scheme for the display. Color grabs attention. It does not have to be bold and bright to do so. Creating a color scheme can create a feeling. The feeling can grab attention also. Keeping that in mind while experimenting with colors to create a visual affect for the jewelry display will help in developing a planned color scheme. The right blend of colors will pull your display together and will help in designing the perfect display for your creative style.

Use color to catch attention and make the eye travel throughout the display. The idea is to use the color in a way that will enhance the jewelry but not over power it. The color is the background. The jewelry is the dominate attention grabber. The key word is "Enhance, Enhance, Enhance". Do not let the characteristics of the color scheme take center stage but instead use it as a flowing background that will help move the prospective customer around the display.

Handcrafted Jewelry USA Jewelry Display Examples

Trying to put the colors of our business card and the colors for Handcrafted Jewelry USA together presented a bit of a catch. When thinking USA the red, white and blue colors always come to my mind. Putting those colors together with the blues in the "Adrift" business card was causing nightmares. I was in the need to get my display ready for a show and feeling frustrated to make a decision. I needed to purchase material for a table cover and I needed it soon.

I finally decided I would use a royal blue velvet for the tables. Off to the discount fabric store I scurried, blue velvet in mind, final answer. NOT!

I walked in to the store knowing exactly what I was going to purchase when the unbleached, natural looking muslin slapped me square in the face. Looked just like SAND from a distance. It was a "NO BRAINER"! "ADRIFT",sand, beach, water....I did not think twice. I also saved a good sum of cash because the muslin was 5 times cheaper than velvet. I was excited.

Heading back to the studio to lay out my table and continue designing the display I realized I had just created more dilemmas with this purchase. My props were painted black. I also needed additional props for a uniform flow in the display. ARGHHH! What to do next??

Making The Colors Flow Throughout The Handcrafted Jewelry Display Can Present Questions

Jill was put to work changing the color of the main props while I tried to add the finishing touches to the display. I had seen some other jewelry displays that used rocks and dishes and shells and other natural items to enhance the display area. I wanted to try to find some plates that would work for my display. I decided to go shopping at another discount store to see if I could locate some navy blue plates. There I was with those ideas going off and decisions to purchase a certain color again.

The trouble was that the Red, White and Blue for the "USA" was not coming in to play. I was thinking different colored plates, maybe?

Walking in to the store I was immediately attracted to a stack of dishes with the perfect colors I needed. Now I truly was surprised and a bit shocked to say the least. It was as if these plates were waiting for me and had been designed for my handcrafted jewelry display upon my request. How lucky could I be? The best part was these plates were over runs and odd lots and they were extremely inexpensive.

I had purchased the muslin to cover the tables and as shown in the photos one can see that did not happen. The "sandy" appearance of the muslin had me compelled to drape the material instead. This was okay because I wanted to give some height to the table display and by adding a variety of books and boxes under the material I was able to do so. Just a few more details and my confidence was growing with my jewelry display and the overall style I was turning out. My display was shaping up and a certain feeling was emerging with the finished product.

Adding Details To The Jewelry Display

I purchased several bags of smooth river rocks and some clear glass drops to finish my display with details that could be used throughout the display to pull it together. I also purchased an inexpensive tablecloth made from thin plastic to cover the table. The final display cost me less than $25. to put together and it worked perfect for the first show. I received many compliments from the clients who attended the show and was personally pleased with the finished results for the jewelry display

There are so many things to take in to consideration when the artist decides to display their work. A Handcrafted Jewelry Display should always look clean and professional. The finished product will attract more customers by speaking to them through visual appeal and sensory perceptions. Be open to change and growth and continue to add or subtract from your display as you gain experience.Put your best foot forward and do a lot of research as you design your display. It will pay off in the long run.
